One-Child Policy | Joe Biden | Administration Clarification | The Daily Caller

http://dailycaller.com/2011/08/23/obama-administration-attempts-to-clarify-bi...

..... “As I was talking to some of your leaders,” Biden said in China, “you share a similar concern here in China. You have no safety net. Your policy has been one which I fully understand —I’m not second-guessing —of one child per family. The result being that you’re in a position where one wage earner will be taking care of four retired people. Not sustainable. So hopefully we can act in a way on a problem that’s much less severe than yours, and maybe we can learn together from how we can do that.”

RRD:People who do not believe me when I say that this administration has a totalitarian worldview, who act as if this is just another Democratic administration,& that we can afford to brush off viable Republicans because of this or that stupid or unjust policy,DON'T GET IT.

RRD:Well no he didn't.He fought people who were opposed to Blacks having the right to vote, opposed to Blacks having the right to go to school with whites,He fought people like Bryon De La Beckwith,Bobby Frank Cherry, Thomas Blanton, Herman Frank Cash, and Robert Chambliss.Which one of these murderers am I Rev.Jackson?
My grandparents,Jews, were afraid to go into New Jersey(they saw a cross burning there from a distance)much less Alabama.(The Klan did not much care for Jews either Mr.Jackson).
Now I am being compared to people of the same mindset as those who blew up the 16th Street Baptist Church, for taking the same position on the debt ceiling that Barack Obama took a few years ago?Is this a joke?Whose suffering do you think you are trivializing when you make these accusations?

RRD:The Ames Straw Poll results are in.

Percentages are approximations.
16,892 ballots

1.Bachmann 29%
2.Paul 28%
3.Pawlenty 14%
4.Santorum 10%
5.Cain 9%
6.Perry (write in) 4%

Bachmann wins Ames straw poll; Ron Paul takes second - TheHill.com

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/176771-bachmann-wins-ames-straw-poll

...."A House member has never finished in the top two; extraordinarily, two House lawmakers finished nearly neck-and-neck toward the top. Bachmann is the first woman to ever win the straw poll. "...

RRD:What does Ames signify?

...."Of the five straw poll winners in history, three have gone on to win the Iowa caucus, two managed to secure the Republican nomination and only one has ever made it to the White House. Statistically speaking, a highly coveted win in Ames gives a candidate about a 20 percent chance of even getting on the ballot in the general election."....

..."Ames is the first real test of voters' confidence in each candidate....." For example, many expected Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback to take the top spot at the 2007 straw poll. When he turned up with a comparatively dismal third place finish behind Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee, his supporters' confidence was shaken and his fundraising reports showed it. From April to June, in the first quarter before the straw poll, Brownback raised more than $1.4 million. But the following quarter, which ran from July through October, his fundraising dropped to $925,000; by the last quarter of 2007, Brownback pulled in less than $140,000. In Ames, it is not necessarily about winning, but about doing better than expected, which is why the nine candidates on the ballot this year are all downplaying where they hope to finish. As ABC's Matt Jaffe pointed out, Pawlenty has said he will be happy with anything higher than sixth place. "....

Germany marks 50th anniversary of the Berlin Wall.Let us never forget the bravery of those who risked death,& who died trying to escape to freedom. #tcot

RRD:Germany marks 50th anniversary of the Berlin Wall.Let us never forget the bravery of those who risked death,& who died trying to escape to Freedom.

Those like Günter Litfin,& Peter Fechter.

Memorial for Günter Litfin - Berlin.de

http://www.berlin.de/mauer/gedenkstaetten/guenter_litfin/index.en.php

"On 24 August 1961, Günter Litfin was shot and killed by members of the transport police as he attempted to flee to West Berlin. He became the first victim of shots fired at the border between East and West Berlin after the Wall went up on 13 August 1961."

Memorial for Peter Fechter - Berlin.de

http://www.berlin.de/mauer/gedenkstaetten/peter_fechter/index.en.php

"Peter Fechter was shot by GDR border guards on 17 August 1962 as he and a coworker attempted to climb over the Wall to West Berlin. Severely wounded, he fell back onto the border strip at the base of the Wall, and lay there without medical assistance as he bled to death. West Berlin police were not permitted to intervene, nor did the border troops of the western Allies at Checkpoint Charlie get involved. He was not carried away by GDR border guards until almost an hour later. His coworker was able to escape over the Wall unhurt. West Berliners who had witnessed his death laid flowers and wreaths at the site along the Wall that same day and set up a memorial that still exists today. Berliners and members of the government gather here every year on August 13, the anniversary of the Wall’s construction, to honor the memory of the victims of the Berlin Wall. "

"Victims of the Wall:Well over 100,000 citizens of the GDR tried to escape across the inner-German border or the Berlin Wall between 1961 and 1988. More than 600 of them were shot and killed by GDR border guards or died in other ways during their escape attempt. They drowned, suffered fatal accidents, or killed themselves when they were caught. Between 1961 and 1989 along the Berlin Wall alone, at least 136 people were killed or died in other ways directly connected to the GDR border regime, including 98 people who were shot, accidentally killed, or killed themselves when they were caught trying to make it over the Wall; 30 people from both East and West who were not trying to flee but were shot or died in an accident; 8 GDR border guards who were killed while on duty by deserters, fellow border guards, fugitives, or a West Berlin police officer; and at least 251 travelers from East and West who died before, during, or after inspections at checkpoints in Berlin. Was the submissive wives question fair? re:Bachmann #2012 #tcot #tlot #teaparty

RRD:Yes it was.Of course it's also fair to ask whether Obama is a anti-american narcissistic psychopath who-has-the-blood-of-our-soldiers-on-his-hands-due-to-his-rules-of-engagement;but Obama will never be asked such questions. That would presumably be unfair.Since Obama is normal,& Bachmann is "a wackjob".

In any event Bachmann was asked--and directly answered--the question here.

“I would be the decisionmaker.” One wonders--given that Bachmann previously answered that question--why it was asked?Given that there is,in fact,a election going on,and that Bachmann(at present) is the candidate who stands the best chance of defeating Romney it is understandable why the left would want to destroy her.
(Of all the candidates she is the only one who would both strongly fight Obamacare,AND have a chance of defeating Romney.)Why York(or Objectivists) would is less clear to me.

.... "Bachmann actually gave a similar answer to Newsweek in last week’s now-infamous cover story. “That means that I respect my husband, and he respects me,” she said. She added a commitment that was absent from her debate response, saying that in the White House, “I would be the decisionmaker.” .....

ALERT!Obama targets enemies of "Inclusiveness" i.e.: Islamism #no2sharia #tcot #ocra

RRD:The Obama administration has decided that the government now has as one of its roles--fighting the enemies of "Inclusiveness" i.e. Islamism.
Don't you love the way governments come up with these Orwellian terms?
This one reminds of the charge of being "Unmutual" ;from one of the episodes of The Prisoner.People who were Unmutual were....well it was never entirely clear what they were being accused of;which is what totalitarian societies always seek to promote. As Ayn Rand--who escaped from the Soviet Union--noted,it is a mistake:...

...." to suppose that a dictatorship rules a nation by means of strict, rigid laws which are obeyed and enforced with rigorous, military precision. ..... it is not the known that breaks men’s spirits, but the unpredictable. A dictatorship has to be capricious; it has to rule by means of the unexpected, the incomprehensible, the wantonly irrational...(fn1)

Dictatorships thrive on vague laws.Soft-tyrannies traffic in veiled threats. And in a world when you can suddenly find yourself the target of a "random" IRS audit,or be mysteriously denied a discretionary permit of some kind, the government already has many tools to intimidate its targets.

Obama's Dubious Scheme to Fix Homegrown Terrorism - Karen Lugo - Townhall Conservative

http://townhall.com/columnists/karenlugo/2011/08/12/obamas_dubious_scheme_to_...

...."According to the White House, the government is also concerned about what it considers to be the enemies of inclusiveness. The indiciations that such phantom operators are present in the community include “actions and statements that cast suspicion toward entire communities, promot[ing] hatred and division, and send[ing] messages to certain Americans that they are somehow less American because of their faith or how they look.” These descriptors are the same ones used to cast as Islamophobic those who credibly confront the issues associated with sharia in American culture. Thus, the government is offering partnership with the multiculturalist and Islamist groups that already impose tremendous censorship on community efforts to defend American constitutional culture. The government just avoids using the recently minted “Islamophobia” label. This will certainly lead to government mediation of cultural debates -and Europe teaches us what happens when government
criminalizes speech on matters of public concern. Obama and the Feds will not have to look far for ready-made partners in this multi-culti cooperative. Conveniently, there are highly organized commissions already active in most communities that spout the same platitudes about inclusiveness and tolerance. These boards feel empowered by their quasi-government sponsorship to criticize any who engage in non-compliant speech. Those courageous enough to challenge political Islam or to expose dangerous radicals in the community are perversely subject to condemnation for creating an environment of “hate.” There is great reason to fear a government alliance with local speechminder commissions. This is exactly what squelched the public debate in Great Britain and led to sharia districts, 85 sharia courts and sharia-compliant schools. If America does not heed the British lesson, the potential for similar, separate sharia societies is predictable. Of course, it is within these enclav
es that
real intransigent radicalization and deep division take root. "....

RRD:Let me add some qualifiers.First it is not "censorship" for group A to accuse group B(unjustly)of "Islamophobia".It IS censorship to use force, and the government's political power to try to intimidate it's enemies. Also it is not clear that the Obama regime will seek to establish formal censorship boards. Not because they do not want to,they do.But they may understand that it is a bridge too far.Or not.We will see.In either case this is certainly something to keep a eye on.

Dictatorship — Ayn Rand Lexicon

http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/dictatorship.html

It is a grave error to suppose that a dictatorship rules a nation by means of strict, rigid laws which are obeyed and enforced with rigorous, military precision. Such a rule would be evil, but almost bearable; men could endure the harshest edicts, provided these edicts were known, specific and stable; it is not the known that breaks men’s spirits, but the unpredictable. A dictatorship has to be capricious; it has to rule by means of the unexpected, the incomprehensible, the wantonly irrational; it has to deal not in death, but in sudden death; a state of chronic uncertainty is what men are psychologically unable to bear. “Antitrust: The Rule of Unreason,” The Objectivist Newsletter, Feb. 19

Teaparty Patriots favors defense cuts.They're wrong. #tcot #tlot #teaparty

RRD:Our Military is in a profoundly weakened state already from the Iraq war.Equipment has been worn out.Lives have been lost.Recruitment has become more difficult.

If anything, our military must be rebuilt, not cut.

Nor can our budget dilemma be solved by cutting waste from the defense budget. There is too much social welfare spending to even make dent in the deficit. We could eliminate the military altogether;that would put off our economic collapse for a short while.Assuming,of course that the "peace dividend" was not immediately spent for new "goodies".
Since it would be,nothing would be gained.

And all this,of course, ignores the very real nature of the threats and potential threats that we face.Tehran continues to seek nukes.China continues to arm(and to wage cyberwarfare against us).The "Arab Spring" has largely been a boon for Islamists.

And many Libertarians continue to act as if the world is filled with peaceful souls, who will leave us alone,if only we will leave them alone.

It isn't.

The reasoning of Tea Party Patriots goes something like this:if we accept defense cuts(and there is real, actual, waste in the defense department)then we will be "less hypocritical" in pushing for cuts to social welfare spending.

There are two problems with this view:

1.Some Government services are legitimate functions of the state(such as defense).Others(social welfare)aren't.Therefore it is not hypocritical to push for cuts to welfare state programs exclusively. It is only hypocritical if you accept the premise that social welfare is a legitimate function of the Government.I don't.The Republicans(and possibly many Tea Partiers)do.

2.If "everything is on the table, including defense",than defense is the only thing that will be on the table. The Democrats want MORE social welfare spending and MORE taxes. They cannot be reasoned with or appeased because they are irrational.Offering them defense cuts is like showing a shark your bloody wound in the hopes that the shark will take pity on you.The Democrats have no reason to compromise. They believe that they have the moral high ground."We are our brother's keeper".So long as their moral code goes unchallenged,so long as Republicans are fighting the "practical","it's moral but we just can't afford this" battle, they will lose.

Obama's goal from the beginning has been to reverse the Reagan revolution. That is:increase spending to increase government dependency, then use the massive deficits as a justification for higher taxes and defense cuts. With the help of the Republicans,(and now some members of the Tea Party, and the help of some libertarians,)he is succeeding.
There should be no defense cuts unless we can be certain that they will not jeopardize our citizens, and even then, only after massive cuts in social welfare spending. This means in practice that nothing can be done so long as Obama is in power.

After this, frankly it is time to go third party,or Independent,on a as needed basis for the legislative(not executive) branches. We may need to build a new party from scratch.(Again not in terms of the presidency). If that fails,it's probably time to switch to a educational focus.Galt did not give up,but he did switch tactics.
