Joe Walsh, a tea party favorite from north of Chicago, is circulating a letter among his colleagues to urge GOP leadership to “publicly disavow the McConnell plan and please don’t bring it up for a vote in the House —in any form.” As of late Tuesday, Walsh had between 40 and 50 signatures, which represents 20 percent of the House Republican Conference. Walsh expects more signatories, and leadership insiders say upwards of 100 members could sign on. “The rank and file doesn’t want anything even remotely close to McConnell,” Walsh said in an interview. “It’s not a plan. We understand where it came from, but it’s not a plan.” ....
