Obama in 2007 Tehran would only use Nukes in self-defense #tcot #jcot

Obama, Gospel and Verse - NYTimes.com

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/26/opinion/26brooks.html

”When you ask about ways to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, he talks grandly about marshaling a global alliance. But when you ask specifically if an Iranian bomb would be deterrable, he’s says yes: “I think Iran is like North Korea. They see nuclear arms in defensive terms, as a way to prevent regime change.”

In other words, he has a tendency to go big and offer himself up as Bromide Obama, filled with grand but usually evasive eloquence about bringing people together and showing respect. Then, in a blink, he can go small and concrete, and sound more like a community organizer than George F. Kennan.

Finally, more than any other major candidate, he has a tendency to see the world in post-national terms. Whereas President Bush sees the war against radical Islam as the organizing conflict of our time, Obama sees radical extremism as one problem on a checklist of many others: global poverty, nuclear proliferation, global warming. When I asked him to articulate the central doctrine of his foreign policy, he said, “The single objective of keeping America safe is best served when people in other nations are secure and feel invested”

Why I will support Romney in the #2012 election (after opposing him)

I have previously passionately argued against voting for Mitt Romney ,even if Obama won as a result (though I also doubted that Romney could win). I had considered voting for Gary Johnson, or for skipping the Presidential ballot and just voting for Republicans in the House and Senate.

I have changed my position and will now vote for Romney in 2012 .

My reasons are as follows:

1. The court betrayed us by upholding Obamacare. The only remaining option for repealing this obscenity is to get Romney into office and a Republican Senate into power .
”But Romney won't repeal it?”
We were able to prevent any Republican defections on Obamacare in 2009 by means of applying massive political pressure,if we do so again, then there is a slim, but reasonable, chance that we will succeed in pressuring the GOP into repealing Obamacare.
This is not some open ended thing where it does not matter if it is repealed in 2012 or in 2016. Once the ”benefits” kick-in, in 2014 then it will become exponentially more difficult to repeal it.
But to do so will mean that we cannot accept the "lesser of two evils" as a standard, where we will vote for any Republican, even if he supports keeping parts of Obamacare.
Imagine what the result would have been in 2009, had we called the Republicans and told them "You must not pass Obamacare,do you hear! But we'll vote for you anyway".

We would have lost all leverage .

This is not "practical",it does not "buy us time". It accelerates the decline, since the Democrats will set the standard, and the Republicans will know that we will vote for them irregardless of what they do.

You think I'm mistaken?

You think that the Republicans are ”good fellows, who just need a philosophy?”

But they have a philosophy: it's a combination of mee-toism/second handedness (”what will the pundits say”), pragmatism (” we have to violate free market principles to save the free market”), & altruism (”people are hurting”)
And as to the claim that Republicans won't take the voters for granted, let us look at one of the "well meaning but confused folks" who just need to be given a shot of courage;Mike Murphy on Sarah Palin :

"Most pundits thought I was wrong. Look at the crowds she can draw, I was told.
She "excites the base."Phooey. Every presidential election
year brings forth some new nugget of conventional wisdom from the media elite that totally misses the real picture. Last year, the big wrong idea was this notion
that base voters have somehow become the new swing.voters. We are now told the party base - those voters who will vote for a bag of cement if it has an R or D attached to it - must be carefully appealed to, romanced and appeased.Under that funhouse reasoning, Palin was an inspired pick.Unfortunately for McCain, the actual swing voters, the independents who do determine the
winner of the election, didn't buy into this fantasy at all.”

To go forward, GOP must snap out of its Sarah Palin spell - Daily News

http://m.nydailynews.com/1.428766

Or as Mccain snickered: "where will they go".

No,if we are to actually slow down this monstrosity then we must draw certain red lines:

1. Repeal Obamacare,completely

2. Oppose Cap and Trade.

3. Defend the U.S.

4. Oppose censorship.

If a candidate does not actually do any of these things, then we must be prepared to vote him out of office.

We must also work to have a fallback plan should Republicans betray us. We must look into the Libertarian Party as a possible alternative,or perhaps create a new party to replace the GOP (a "teaparty party" perhaps?) .

"But third parties can't succeed!"

Google:”the Whigs”.

However neither a third party nor the Libertarian Party can win in 2012.

It will take time to build up a alternative.

I therefore would offer this advice (HT to Stephen Bailey)

Unless you live in a solidly red or blue state, vote for Romney.
If you live in a solidly red or blue state vote for Romney,Johnson, skip the presidential part of the ballot etc ,use your own judgement.

The U.S. has a electoral college system,it DOES NOT matter who gets the most votes. The election is determined by who wins enough electoral votes. If you live in one of the deepest red states, your state will go for Romney whether you vote for Romney,Johnson,Obama, John Galt,or stand on your head or don't vote in the Presidential election at all. The same holds true for solidly blue states. (But make sure that your state IS actually solidly red or blue, check Realclearpolitics )
If you live in anything less than a solidly red or blue state ,vote
for Romney. And even if you live in a solidly red state ,you should attack Obama online ,and speak with any of your friends in swing states, and present the reasons I've given here for why they should vote for Romney . Do not lie, just explain your reasoning .

I plan to address this at greater length in future posts.

Man w/ gov subsidized "green job" celebrates Fukushima as gift to his company

I had a green job | Fox News

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/22/had-green-job/?cmpid=cmty_fb_I_had_a_green_job

”I wish I could say people work in Green energy because they sincerely believe in catastrophic global warming. But most also reject nuclear power, the only scalable form of CO2-free energy, hating it as a competitor while celebrating Fukushima for creating anti-nuclear sentiment. “Nuclear is dead!” proclaimed my boss at a staff meeting just days after the disaster. “This will be good for us!” he continued, in the wake of 20,000 deaths, not one caused by nuclear radiation.

He was right--we needed disasters to compete.

I remember researching catastrophic global warming claims extensively, then sharing evidence against such a threat with the director of engineering, a very intelligent man. I expected either a scientific counter-argument or excitement at the prospect that we do not face an unprecedented climate disaster and the unprecedented economic disaster of a carbon cap. Instead, he responded that our company would be better off if catastrophic global warming were imminent. He wanted it to be true, because it would help us. Our company could not survive on merit, so our interests were aligned with destruction.”

In which Huckabee reveals that Akin (or Huck) is the prophet Elijah,or something #tcot #tlot #teaparty

“This could be a Mount Carmel moment. You know, you bring your gods. We’ll bring ours. We’ll see whose God answers the prayers and brings fire from heaven. That’s kind of where I’m praying: that there will be fire from heaven, and we’ll see it clearly, and everyone else will to.”

Did Mike Huckabee attack Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith? - National Political Buzz | Examiner.com

http://www.examiner.com/article/did-mike-huckabee-attack-mitt-romney-s-mormon-faith

JPS 1917

”1Ki 18:12-46
12 And it will come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the spirit of the LORD will carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he will slay me; but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth. 13 Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid a hundred men of the LORD'S prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water? 14 And now thou sayest: Go, tell thy lord: Behold, Elijah is here; and he will slay me. '15 And Elijah said:' As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him to- day. '16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah. 17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him:' Is it thou, thou troubler of Israel? '18 And he answered:' I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LO RD, and thou hast followed the Baalim. 19 Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the Asherah four hundred, that eat at Jezebel's table. '20 And Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel. 21 And Elijah came near unto all the people, and said:' How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him. 'And the people answered him not a word. 22 Then said Elijah unto the people:' I, even I only, am left a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men. 23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under; and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on the wood, and put no fire under. 24 And call ye on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD; and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. 'And all the people answered and said:' It is well spoken. '25 And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal:' Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under. '26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying:' O Baal, answer us. 'But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they danced in halting wise about the altar which was made. 27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said:' Cry aloud; for he is a god; either he is musing, or he is gone aside, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked. '28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with swords and lances, till the blood gushed out upon them. 29 And it was so, when midday was past, that they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening offering; but their was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded. 30 And Elijah said unto all the people:' Come near unto me '; and all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was thrown down. 31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying:' Israel shall be thy name. '32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. 33 And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid it on the wood. 34 And he said:' Fill four jars with water, and pour it on the burnt- offering, and on the wood. 'And he said:' Do it the second time '; and they did it the second time. And he said:' Do it the third time '; and they did it the third time . 35 And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water. 36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening offering, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said:' O LORD, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that Thou art God in Israel, and that I am Thy servant, and that I have done all these things at Thy word. 37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that Thou, LORD, art God, for Thou didst turn their heart backward. '38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt- offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said:' The LORD, He is God; the LORD, He is God. '40 And Elijah said unto them:' Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. 'And they took them; and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there. ”

McCaskill defends her useful idiot Todd Akin #tcot #tlot #gop #missouri

McCaskill avoids Akin attacks in hopes of keeping him in the race - The Hill's Ballot Box

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/senate-races/245095-mccaskill-avoids-akin-attacks-in-hopes-of-keeping-him-in-the-race

....”Kenneth Warren, a professor of political science at Saint Louis University, noted McCaskill's silence on that issue.

"Big time she has, she's even been sympathetic with his plight," he said, adding "I think she's silent right now because I think she's praying that Todd Akin does not drop out, because it's her only chance of winning. She is not popular in this state."

....”And Democrats were quick to push back against Thursday's poll, saying Rasmussen has a conservative bias and is in cahoots with GOP party leadership in trying to pressure Akin out of the race.

“Everyone knows that Rasmussen is a tool of the Republican establishment in Washington,” Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee press secretary Shripal Shah told The Hill.

A McCaskill campaign aide added that “it’s just not in line with what we’re seeing in our internal polling.”

“There’s a concerted [GOP] effort to get Todd Akin to bow out,” he said. “So it’s quite a coincidence that this poll came out right after someone in his campaign said he would re-evaluate if he was down by 7 to 9 percent ... we were just out [polling] in the field yesterday and it showed we’re in a dead heat.”

And McCaskill herself tweeted: "Rasmussen poll made me laugh out loud. If anyone believes that, I just turned 29. Sneaky stuff.”

RRD:I find it bitterly amusing that some "pro-life" politicans and individuals are so moved by their horror of abortion that they seek to outlaw it,but not enough to tell Akin that he may cost the GOP the Senate, and that Obamacare will thereby stay on the books, with all that implies for abortion.

Interesting poll on views on abortion #tcot #tlot #teaparty

How many Republicans agree with Todd Akin on abortion?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2012/08/22/how-many-republicans-agree-with-todd-akin-on-abortion/

”The group that takes the most hard-line stance is the “pro-government conservatives.” Over half think abortion should be illegal in all cases. Interestingly, this group is not only defined by its views on social issues like abortion, but by its willingness to allow a role for government in public life. These voters are the most religious of the Republican groups. The problem for Aiken is that this GOP cluster is the smallest of any of the groups, accounting for just 12 percent of all Republicans.

Two of the larger Republicans groups — the “tea party movement Republicans” and “religious values voters” — also stake out very conservative positions on abortion. Accounting for almost half of all Republicans, they lean more toward making abortion illegal in most cases, but just about three in 10 say it should be illegal in all cases.

The remaining two Republican groups have much more liberal views on abortion. Some 15 percent of “window shoppers” say it should be illegal in all cases. (This group makes up 17 percent of all Republicans; it is the youngest group and its values and policy views tend to resemble Democrats.)

Only 1 percent of the “old school Republicans” take the absolute view on restricting abortion in all cases. These voters comprise 22 percent of all Republicans. They are the wealthiest of the GOP groups and take more liberal views on social issues while maintaining more conservative positions on other issues, especially economic ones. On absolutely restricting abortion, “old school Republicans” match the views of the two most liberal Democratic groups.”

”I wonder if that is not the case with Rep. Akin's comment. If I were at a dinner party with Akin, and he said what he said in his Missouri television interview, as much as I consider the vast majority of abortions in America to be immoral acts, I would have respectfully asked the congressman whether he was aware of the marauding armies throughout history that raped women. Did he assume that very few of them -- like the German women raped by Soviet soldiers at the end of World War II -- got pregnant? Did he not know how many raped slaves gave birth? Was he not aware of the tragedy of the women of Darfur who, after being raped by Sudanese Arab soldiers, are abandoned by their families for getting pregnant out-of-wedlock?”

To Akin's apologists who say:what's the big deal? #tcot #tlot #2012

1.Akin is stupid. He is very stupid. He is very, very stupid. He is so stupid ,that he said something that a 12yr old girl would not be stupid enough to say.

2. The fact that the Dems are hypocritical with their stupid and immoral people means that they should be condemned, not emulated.

3. Some of us know rape victims. His statement sickened & nauseated many of them,& us.

4. We may lose the Senate race in Missouri because Akin is stupid (or a liar) & because he refused to drop out of the race. Not because we did not pretend that "there are things about biology that we don't know",not because we did not "stand with Akin",but because Akin is a moron (or evil) and he is
RIGHTLY regarded as being either a moron or evil by many people.
But never mind.
Let's define deviancy down to the lowest common denominator.

After all Akin wants to be a Senator. Shouldn't we care about his widdle feelings.

http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2012/08/21/todd-akin-forgiveness-means-obamacares-wins-republicans-romney/

...”The math is that simple. The current RealClearPolitics map for the Senate shows 47 likely Democrat seats heading into the election and 44 for the Republicans with nine seats up for grabs rated as tossups. While theoretically the GOP can win a majority without Missouri, that is one seat they were already counting on to offset possible losses elsewhere. If McCaskill is left to run against the candidate of her choice, the chances of a Republican majority next year are dramatically reduced.”....

...”Just as important is the fact that if Akin hangs on, he will give Democrats a poster child for their effort to portray their opponents as waging a faux “war on women.” ...

....”Akin may reason that if he hangs on his party will have no choice but to backtrack on their vows to starve him of funds especially if the race in Missouri stays close. But that would be colossal mistake for the party. No matter what he says, Akin’s candidacy is a lost cause and if they fail to isolate him, the taint of his stupidity will attach itself to every Republican in the country, including Romney.”

RRD:The Republican candidate for one of Missouri's Senate seats,Rep.Akin, believes that something that he calls "legitimate rape" rarely produces pregnancies.Presumably by ”legitimate” he meant ”actual” or ”real” but even if we grant that, that merely moves him from being a advocate of Raping women to being ”just” a buffoon.

Akin on "Legitimate Rape" - YouTube

"It seems to me, first of all, from what I understand from doctors, that's really rare. If it's a legitimate rape the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down," he said.”

Dead Girl's chemotherapy delayed due to Doctor's fear of prosecution under abortion law in Dominican Republic

RRD: A 16 yr old girl is dead from leukemia. Her chemotherapy, which may or may not have saved her life, was delayed due to her Doctors' fears that they would be criminally prosecuted under the Dominican Republic's anti-abortion lawA Co-sponsor of the bill has argued that the bill applies only to abortion & not to medical treatment.

Save a life, or break abortion laws?

http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/25/world/americas/dominican-republic-abortion-teen/index.html?c=&page=0

”Bautista Rojas Gomez, the Dominican minister of health, has publicly indicated he favors chemotherapy over protecting the pregnancy, but doctors are still reluctant to act for fear of prosecution.

Pelegrin Castillo, one of the architects of Article 37, says the constitutional ban does not prevent doctors from administering the treatment. It does, however, prevent them from practicing an abortion in order to treat the patient with chemotherapy.

"It's an artificial debate," Castillo said. "What we have clearly said is that in this case doctors are authorized by the constitution to treat the patient. They don't have to worry about anything. They have the mandate of protecting both lives."

"They have killed me, I'm dead, dead. I'm nothing," her mother said. " She was the reason for my existence. I no longer live. Rosa has died. Let the world know that Rosa is dead."

The patient was 13 weeks pregnant.

Her body rejected a blood transfusion and did not respond to the chemotherapy, and her condition worsened overnight, Cabrera said.

She then suffered a miscarriage early Friday, followed by cardiac arrest, and doctors were unable to revive her”

What is Paul Ryan's stance on abortion? #tcot #tlot #teaparty #p2

PolitiFact Wisconsin | Obama says Ryan supports banning all abortions

http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2012/aug/17/barack-obama/obama-says-ryan-supports-banning-all-abortions/

”From his first campaigns, in 1998 and in 2000, Ryan has said he supports an exception to any abortion ban for when the life of the mother is at risk. Abortions in such cases are rare, but they do occur.

The Obama campaign argues Ryan has been inconsistent on that point, saying Ryan does not back that exemption in cases involving a procedure known as "partial birth" abortion. Indeed, Journal Sentinel stories from 1998 quoted Ryan as clearly opposing a "life of the mother" exception in "partial-birth" abortion cases.

There is another, more recent, piece of information to consider.

Ryan is among 64 House Republicans who co-sponsored the Sanctity of Human Life Act, an anti-abortion bill that declares that human life shall be deemed to begin at fertilization, and should be protected from that point.

The legislation, which has stalled, reflects the budding movement -- endorsed by Ryan -- to enact "personhood" rights for the unborn.

It would weaken the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision by "giving back the right to individual states to outlaw abortion," according to Gualberto Garcia Jones, legal analyst for Personhood USA.

Some legal observers, such as Harvard University’s I. Glenn Cohen say, that the measure’s declarations -- the right to life "is the paramount and most fundamental right of a person" and "every human being shall have all the legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood" -- can be read as hostile to the life of the mother exception” ....

RRD:Politifact is not always accurate, so this should be taken with a grain of salt.
One other point: ”life of the mother” is a higher hurdle than ”health of the mother”.
It is also vague: how much of a danger does Ryan believe there must be? 2% risk of death? 60%?

UK Gov throws Diplomatic Immunity to winds to get Assange #tcot #tlot #p2

RRD: In a bizarre move Britain has invoked the Diplomatic and Consular Premises Act of 1987.This act, which was passed to prevent atrocities like the shooting of PC Yvonne Fletcher, is now being used to seize a man brought up (formally) on rape charges,& (informally), for his Wikileaks website.
Of course Embassies have had their sovereignty violated before:
Ours was taken over by Iranians,
We blew up China's ,the Russians planted bugs in our embassy etc(I am limiting myself to State Actors).
But this will still be of concern to many diplomats around the world.

BBC News - Julian Assange: UK 'threat' to arrest Wikileaks founder

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-19259623

”At a news conference in Quito on Wednesday, Ecuador's Foreign Minister, Ricardo Patino, said a letter from the UK government had been delivered through a British embassy official.

"Today we received from the United Kingdom an express threat, in writing, that they might storm our embassy in London if we don't hand over Julian Assange," he said.

"Ecuador rejects in the most emphatic terms the explicit threat of the British official communication."

He said such a threat was "improper of a democratic, civilised and rule-abiding country".

He added: "If the measure announced in the British official communication is enacted, it will be interpreted by Ecuador as an unacceptable, unfriendly and hostile act and as an attempt against our sovereignty. It would force us to respond.

"We are not a British colony."

A Foreign Office spokesman said the UK remained "determined" to fulfil its obligation to extradite Mr Assange.

"Throughout this process we have drawn the Ecuadoreans' attention to relevant provisions of our law, whether, for example, the extensive human rights safeguards in our extradition procedures, or to the legal status of diplomatic premises in the UK," the spokesman said.

"We are still committed to reaching a mutually acceptable solution."

The law the UK has informed Ecuador it could use in the case is the Diplomatic and Consular Premises Act 1987.

It allows the UK to revoke the diplomatic status of an embassy on UK soil, which in this case would potentially allow police to enter the building to arrest Mr Assange for breaching the terms of his bail.

The act was introduced after PC Yvonne Fletcher was shot outside the Libyan Embassy in London in 1984.”

Egypt's New President Moves Against Democracy Washington Institute 4 Near East Policy #jcot #no2sharia

http://www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/view/egypts-new-president-moves-against-democracy

....”The incident gave Mr. Morsi an excuse to sack the security officials who posed the greatest threat to his domestic authority -- particularly the leaders of Egypt's now-defunct military junta, which in June had issued its own constitutional declaration limiting the newly elected president's powers.

More important, Mr. Morsi used the Sinai crisis to assume the powers that the junta had undemocratically asserted for itself in a March 2011 constitutional declaration. He thus claimed unprecedented executive power, including complete authority over legislation, public budgets, foreign affairs, pardons, and political and military appointments.

Mr. Morsi's declaration also gives him the power to select a new assembly for writing Egypt's constitution. And since the new constitution must be approved by popular referendum before new parliamentary elections can be held, Mr. Morsi can intervene in the constitution-writing process to delay legislative elections -- and thereby remain Egypt's sole legislator -- indefinitely.”..

....”Consider the editors he appointed to lead Egypt's two largest state-run newspapers. The new editor of Al-Ahram is an old Mubarak regime hack who called last year's uprising "foreign funded" and lost his column in 2010 for writing anti-Christian articles. The new editor of Gomhoriya shut down a conference on religious freedoms in 2008 and called for the murder of a well-known Bahai activist in 2009. The new editor of Al-Akhbar recently censored an article that criticized the Brotherhood.

...”In its first major move against dissenters, the Morsi regime this month began prosecuting the editor of Al-Dustour, a private daily, for "harming the president through phrases and wording punishable by law."...

....”His amendments to last year's interim constitution give him the authority to sign -- and presumably abrogate --treaties. Although many expected that de facto foreign-policy power would remain with the generals, Mr. Morsi's quick reshuffling of the military leadership has brought the armed forces under his command.

Then there are his overtures to adversaries of the West. In a mere six weeks as president, Mr. Morsi has hosted top-level Hamas delegations twice and, despite the flow of militants from Gaza into Sinai, promised to keep open the Rafah border crossing. Last week he welcomed Iran's vice president and was invited to attend the Non-Aligned Movement's upcoming meeting in Tehran.

If he does, he'd be the first Egyptian head of state to visit Iran since the 1979 revolution. Accompanying him could be his new chief of staff, Mohamed Rifaat al-Tahtawi, a former ambassador to Libya and Iran who has declared Israel to be Egypt's "main threat," praised Syria as "a fundamental pillar of the resistance camp [against] Israel," and called for closer relations with Iran and Hamas.”

Many Washington analysts believe that Mr. Morsi won't make any major foreign-policy moves, such as revoking Egypt's peace treaty with Israel. They take his verbal assurances at face value and reason that he won't rock the boat at the very moment that he needs international investment to boost Egypt's ailing economy.

But this same logic once dictated that he wouldn't rush to challenge Egypt's generals.”....

A Strategy for Romney That Could Actually Win the Presidency

http://m.townhall.com/columnists/matttowery/2012/08/16/a_strategy_for_romney_that_could_actually_win_the_presidency/page/full/

”It basically starts with Obama's claims of economic success and his promises of the past followed by a narrator who says during his presidency he has constantly claimed that he is making progress with the economy while millions have been forced to the unemployment lines and onto food stamps, and many more have struggled. President Obama has spent vacations in Hawaii, more days playing golf than meeting with his economic policy team and traveling from city to city, raising millions of dollars with movie stars and celebrities. Barak Obama speaks one way, but his actions are completely different.

Now, that's just a start. Every time the Obama campaign comes up with a nitpicky new issue that they focus on, the GOP and Romney should swiftly take to the air with ads pointing out how bad the economy is. That the programs he passed resulted in no improvement. That he has run a secretive administration in which agencies target individual citizens. Drones are ordered to fly over our homes, and mandates move us closer to old failed systems of government -- "hint," can you say "Soviet Union"?”

Obama Campaign Goes Racist, Anti-Semitic - Ben Shapiro - [page]

http://townhall.com/columnists/benshapiro/2012/08/15/ben_shapiro/page/full/

”But the Obama campaign wasn't done. The same day Biden unleashed his inner race-baiter, the Obama campaign's Julianna Smoot send out a mass email accusing Ryan of "making a pilgrimage" to Las Vegas to "kiss the ring" of Jewish mega donor Sheldon Adelson. This was an obvious attempt to drive a wedge between Ryan and blue-collar Catholics by invoking anti-Semitic imagery; the implication is that Ryan, instead of making a pilgrimage to Rome to kiss the ring of the Pope, was heading to Vegas to kiss the ring of a wealthy Jew. Ryan, the email implied, was a Judas willing to sacrifice religion for money in the Sodom and Gomorrah of Vegas.

This isn't just nasty campaigning. It's vile campaigning.

It wasn't surprising, of course -- not after the Obama campaign seemingly worked hand-in-glove with a super PAC to release an ad accusing Romney of murdering Joe Soptic's wife of cancer after Bain Capital fired Soptic and Soptic lost his health insurance. It wasn't surprising after the vulgarities that seem to spout daily from the Obama headquarters; their emails suggest that they must win the "damn" election and their staffers call Obamacare opponents "mother---ers." No hope and change to be found here -- just vulgarity and racism.”

”It is remarkable that the party that thinks “states rights” is racist code thinks “put you back in chains” is hot and sexy talk. It is remarkable that the party that heard Sarah Palin had a political target list and cried foul would think telling people the GOP will enslave them is okay. It is remarkable that the party that screams bloody murder when you say they are marxists is okay with Joe Biden claiming the GOP will put people back in chains. It is remarkable that the party that screams bloody murder the moment you mention a death panel has no problem saying the GOP wants to put you back in chains.”

RRD: A friend of mine once argued that if Doctors went on strike to protest Obamacare they would be horrendously demonized. This is partially true, and Doctors are under no obligation to endure abuse. But one must ask whether it makes sense to say that Doctors will be demonized if they strike when Obama is already claiming that they cut off feet for money, when Pelosi compares the Teaparty to Nazis, and when Biden accuses Mitt Romney of wanting to restore slavery.
Whatever we do--other than submit to these scum--will result in their brazenly lying about us, just as John Kerry, Mccain's ” friend” publicly slandered the man who defended him in 2004.

And besides didn't Israel once forbid public buses from running on Saturday?

Egyptian President Morsi fires generals imposes censorship #jcot #tcot

RRD:When the "Arab Spring" began, I & several others who support freedom in the Middle-East warned that a rush to elections would prove disastrous since only the Muslim Brotherhood was prepared to win said elections (fn1).I also pointed to actual polling taken of the Egyptians by the Pew Center showing that a large majority of those polled supported the stoning of adulterers, the killing of apostates & other harsh punishments derived from Sharia law (fn2).

The response?

We were either ignored,or mocked, or attacked as ”racists”(even though there is ample precedent for failed revolutions in the West ,such as the French Revolution).
We were told that the revolution was not initiated by the Muslim Brotherhood(which was true),and that the Muslim Brotherhood would not gain power(obviously not true).
When it became apparent that the Muslim Brotherhood would win elections(and even before then, in some cases) we were told of a new phobia, invented by the Muslim Brotherhood and their apologists and useful idiots in the West:Ikhwanophobia;meaning a supposedly unreasonable fear of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Oddly these same people never speak of KKKophobia, or BNPophobia,or FPOophobia, or Jobbikophobia, or FrontNationalophobia, or GoldenDawnophobia (fn3)., but then perhaps those hit too close to home, unlike the Muslim Brotherhood, whom we are never supposed to "demonize" by applying the same standards to them as we do to ourselves.
After the Muslim Brotherhood won the elecions they were not supposed to win,we were then told that we had nothing to fear since the Egyptian Military would act as a check on them.
Well now "striking another blow for freedom" Morsi has replaced the Generals in charge of the military. He was handed a justification for this, by the alleged ineptitude displayed by Military in the Sinai debacle. He is also taking over the government run newspapers and persecuting his critics:

Rubin Reports » Egypt: There Goes the Army; There Goes the Free Media; There Goes Egypt

http://pjmedia.com/barryrubin/2012/08/11/egypt-there-goes-the-free-media/?singlepage=true

..."Muslim Brotherhood President al-Mursi has just removed the two commanding generals of the Egyptian military. Does he have a right to do this? Who knows? There’s no constitution. That means all we were told about not having to worry because the generals would restrain the Brotherhood was false. Moreover, the idea that the army, and hence the government, may fear to act lest they lose U.S. aid will also be false. There is no parliament at present He is now the democratically elected dictator of Egypt. True, he picked another career officer but he has now put forward the principle: he decides who runs the army. The generals can still advise Mursi. He can choose to listen to them or not. But there is no more dual power in Egypt but only one leader. The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces which has run Egypt since February 2011 is gone. Only Mursi remains and Egypt is now at his mercy.

Behind the scenes note: Would Mursi dared have done this if he thought Obama would come down on him like a ton of bricks? Would the army give up if they thought America was behind it? No on both counts.

This is a coup. Mursi is bound by no constitution. He can do as he pleases unless someone is going to stop him. And the only candidate–the military–is fading fast, far faster than even we pessimists would have predicted.

Muslim Brotherhood President al-Mursi has also just named the editors of the top Egyptian newspaper and other media outlets. They are state-owned, you know, and there are a half-dozen good little independent newspapers.

But one of them, al-Destour (ironically meaning “The Constitution”), has just had a full issue seized on charges of “fueling sedition” and “harming the president through phrases and wording punishable by law.” We know this through a report in the Middle East News Agency, the state-owned monopoly.

And what was the inflammatory report? That the Brotherhood was going to seize power and that liberals and the army should join together to stop the country from being turned into an Islamist regime."...

...."Other columnists are charging that the Brotherhood is trying to turn their newspapers into reliable house organs rather than let them be free."...

This is what the "Arab Spring" has wrought:
A anti-semitic,misogynistic,anti-Christian,anti-gay ,anti-Liberty band of reactionary Neo-Medievalist Islamists,has taken over
a former quasi-pan-arabist dictatorship,(which our tax dollars have armed and equipped with M1 Abrams tanks and F-16 fighter jets since the Camp David Accords.)
Women,”Apostates”,& Coptic Christians & Gays, all get tossed under the bus, along with the Camp David Accords(sooner or later).

http://dailycaller.com/2012/07/27/doj-official-refuses-to-denounce-demands-for-saudi-style-blasphemy-law/

RRD:According to the Daily Caller Tom Perez a DOJ official refused to denounce blasphemy laws. This took place at hearings convened because of a Daily Caller article published in October of 2011 ,on a meeting Perez had with members of the Islamist group ISNA (a unindicted conspirator in the Holy Land case) most notably Mohamed Magid, along with others.
(To my knowledge Magid himself was not named in the case)

...”At the end of the public meeting, Perez called more meetings with the Islamists, even though he had watched while Magid called for legal punishment of people who criticize Islamic texts that call for violence against non -Muslims and for the subordination of women to men.”...

...”During the meeting, Perez also complimented the Islamists for lobbying against airline security measures.

Perez also listened while another Islamist called for the Justice Department to redefine religious free speech as illegal discrimination.

The department’s “civil rights lawyers are top of the line — I say this with utter honesty — I know they can come up with a way” to redefine criticism as discrimination, said Sahar Aziz, a female Egyptian -American lawyer who spoke at the event.

“I’d be willing to give a shot at it,” said Aziz, who spoke for the Institute for Social Policy & Understanding, a Michigan -based advocacy group.

“We must continue to have the open and honest and critical dialogue that you saw in the robust debate,” Perez said just a few minutes after Aziz made her demand for Saudi-style blasphemy laws.”....
