RRD: The homicide case of Houston Texas-based Iranian dissident Gelareh Bagherzadeh has become even more bizarre.
Some background for those unfamiliar with the case: Gelareh Bagherzadeh was a Iranian women's rights activist & political dissident studying molecular genetics at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston ,Texas.
She converted to Christianity in 2011. On January 15th in 2012 she was shot & killed as she was driving home from the residence of Cory Beavers, her boyfriend of two months. There was no evidence of robbery. While some suspected that the shooting may have been connected to her activism and/or to her conversion to Christianity the family doubted such claims (why would she be targeted alone out of all the other dissidents, one person said) . Others suspected that it was a random drive-by shooting.
On November 12,2012 Coty Beaver, the twin brother of Cory Beaver was found murdered, riddled with bullets, inside his apartment.
No doubt another random act of violence.
Of course this does not prove that the Islamic Republic Of Iran was behind the killings, but either we have two completely random, completely unconnected crimes here or there is some connection of some kind whether to the IRI or something else.
