Investigators have not said how many shots Lanza fired with the Bushmaster semiautomatic rifle after he entered the school by firing half a dozen rounds through the glass at the school entrance. RRD: Standard capacity AR-15 mags hold 25-30 rounds ,( though AR mags should always be loaded a few rounds less than their capacity i.e. 22-25 rounds,for 25 & 30 round mags respectively) so Lanza would have needed to reload a minimum of 6 times if these accounts are correct. One may draw whatever lessons that you wish,clearly he was a determined assailant & this atrocity required forethought.
